Danvers Youth Soccer is announcing a change to the U10 Boys/Girls soccer program. Beginning in the Spring 2011, one boys and girls team of U10 Seniors(current 4th graders) will compete in the Essex County Travel Soccer League, the same program that typically begins ½ season later when they become U11 juniors(5th graders). This is a pilot program that is being introduced and evaluated in 2011, with an aim towards continuation if successful in the future seasons.

The goal of this pilot is to foster player development at appropriate skill levels, enhance the experience of each player whether they participate on the newly formed travel teams or remain in the intramural program. These teams will have practices in the intramural program, but will play an ECYSA game instead of the intramural league.

These players will be evaluated in a tryout scheduled for Nov 20, 2010. Those players selected to travel in the pilot program will be the U10 seniors viewed as most ready for that level of competitive soccer, using the tryout results and the coaches assessments compiled during the Fall 2010 season, which ended this week. The U10 tryout process will be consistent with the current U12 travel process.

**Note: A one-inch x one-inch photo is required for all players. Please bring a photo with players name written on back to tryouts. All players should arrive at least 15 minutes before their scheduled time, and should bring a ball and water bottle. Please do not wear any travel or club uniforms to the evaluation.

Those parents who are interested in making this transition to travel (as it requires a Saturday game in differing town locations), believe their child is interested in competing and can attend the tryout should contact Loren Rocker, our Travel Director at kcorlaer@yahoo.com and plan to attend the tryout date(s). DYS will require an additional registration fee of $25 per player in the travel program due to the fees required by Essex County. Each player will also be required to purchase a travel uniform kit for between $85-$90. This uniform is the same as the U12 travel so any player purchasing this will be able to use for the Fall of 2011 and beyond.

The U10 seniors selected will be notified within two weeks of the tryout date for confirmation of their acceptance in the program.
