Minutes of the Danvers Youth Soccer Annual General Meeting

End of Year Reports:

 

VP Admin

 

Seat will be changing at tonight’s meeting.  Attempt was made during the past two years to make the roster sizes smaller, met with varying success.  Sometimes the small rosters meant not enough players showed to field a full time.  Most of the time a full team was available with limited subs, which was the goal.  Integration of U10 program with Topsfield seems to be getting smoother each season.  Feedback has been almost universally positive from girls teams, occasionally negative from boys teams. Topsfield wished to continue in Spring ’05.

 

VP Operations

 

Coach’s game scheduled for Sunday Nov. 21 at 1:00 pm at Gates field. Breakdown of fields will occur after the game. U7 coaches report that Pugg goals are in bad shape, stakes always seem to get lost. Gates and the YMCA field were resurfaced this past year and are in premium condition.  Town of Danvers did an excellent job of maintaining the new fields and they came in beautifully.  Plains utility field and Smith School field #1 are in tough shape and need work.  J. Barrows will continue another year as VP Ops, he needs a volunteer to mentor as a replacement.

 

Registration

 

876 players registered this Fall.  The drop in registrations, which had occurred at the rate of roughly 20% for the last several years, has leveled off over the last two seasons.  The U6 program had an excellent turnout this Fall.  A new registration form will be available this year, as well as being available online.  Currently registerting U16 and U19 players for the Spring, not many have registered.

 

Travel Director

 

Dec. 1 is the deadline for U16-U19 registrations. Very short numbers this year.  ECYSA AGM was recently held.  Bob Trudeau from Danvers was elected ECYSA President, Janet Gargan U16-U19 girls director, Jeff Chambers U12 girls director.  Preliminary schedule for the Spring includes U12-U!4 coaches meeting on Tuesday March 29, U16-U19 coaches meeting on March 28 at Georgetown CC. ECYSA will now allow rosters of up to 24 for U16-U19 age groups, but must be trimmed to 18 for MTOC.  ECYSA is revisiting the double forfeiture rule, whereby both teams forfeit if neither shows up at the field of play, even if a prior agreement was made that only one team would forfeit. DYS will be moving one travel team from Division 2 to Division 3 for the Spring.

 

Intramural Tournament Committee

 

Chuck Mower is taking over this committee from Carmen Pope.  For the Spring 2005 season, an ad will be placed in the Danvers Herald for ITC players and another registration will be held over the winter.  The website needs to be updated with the new ITC form.

 

Danvers Invitational Tournament

 

Incoming DYS board needs to find new directors for the tournament. Preliminary budgeting for the DIT has been done, but needs to be looked at promptly.  Referee fees will be rising..

 

Treasurer

 

Turnover with new BOD needs to occur quickly so new budges can be submitted and approved at January meeting.

 

General Discussion

 

Registration forms should include a volunteer checkbox or other area where potential volunteers can indicate interest.
