1) Secretary’s
Report
October minutes passed out and are up on web site. Accepted as written.
Any web site information that anyone wants to be put on the site needs
to be sent to the secretary in a timely manner so she can forward it
to the web master. It sometimes takes up to a week for the information
to be posted.
Also discussed the possibility of a new web design, with easier to
follow links. Past years attendance discussed, Removed from the board
was Chip Moore (moved out of state) and Ernie Dion who resigned on
October 4, 2003. Brett Amico was voted in to take the directors slot.
Bob LeBel and Chuck Mower were voted in as coporates.
2) AGM
The AGM has been rescheduled to Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at 7:30
PM @ Maple Street Church in the downstairs meeting hall. All are
invited to attend.
DYS is in need of soccer loving volunteers on the board. Anyone interested
should contact and board member or come to the AGM or any meeting.
On November 20, 2003 DYS will be sending a committee to the Rec
Committee
Dept. meeting at the Senior Center @ 7:30 PM. On line for that meeting
is the discussion of "outsiders" using Danvers playing fields.
This could severely affect the DIT and some of the older travel play.
We will be approaching the town with an offer of desire to help in
developing more soccer fields in town, and hopefully be able to have
a DYS member be on the committee that is deciding what the rules on
field use will be.
3) Treasurers Report
Cash reports presented and discussed for both September and October
and accepted as written.
4) Registration Report
U-16 and up registrations are ongoing. As of tonight we have 519 intramural,
320 U-12 & 14’s, and 43 U-16 and up registered players.
Need to check with intramural coaches on any players that have or
may drop out of soccer for the spring to access if we need to rework
teams. Spring registration will be held in conjuncture with the town
wide sports registration day held in early February. Will also be
looking into new registration forms that can be downloaded off the
website.
Travel
U-16 and above mailings have been sent out and registrations have started
to come in. The cutoff date is December 1, 2003. Team formation meeting
will be held in early December, Janet will e-mail the exact date,
time and place. Anyone interested in attending the ECYSA’S
AGM will be held on November 12, 2003 at the Peabody Marriott @ 7:00
PM.
Special note to all travel coaches, Beverly American Soccer Team
has been suspended from Essex County play. The coach, Peter Haskell
has
been calling around trying to arrange so called "friendly" games
or scrimmages. DYS strongly discourages any DYS team from yielding
to his pressure.
Try-out dates were discussed and when we have final dates decided all
other sports groups will be given that information so they can work
around us for a change.
Spring dates to remember:
U-16 & up opening day - April 4, 2004
Travel opening day - April 17, 2004
ECYSA playoffs - June 17 - 20, 2004
MTOC playoffs - June 25 - 27, 2004
Also noted the desperate need of more referees in Essex County. Anyone
interested in becoming a Ref should look up the course dates by clicking
on the referee link on the ECYSA web site at www.ecysc.org. DYS will
pay for any interested Danvers coach or player to take this course.
Administrations
One week left in intramural play. Has been a positive season. Only
problem has been with the U-7’s. Need to express the need for
all concerned, coaches and players, to be ready to play at the scheduled
game time. Coaches need to have their equipment and the players need
to be at the field 15 minutes early to ensure smooth soccer play.
Operations
The landscaper that was to do the work at the Y field never showed
up and has not returned any calls on the matter. Tried to find someone
else to do the work this fall, but no one was interested. Have numerous
calls out for bids for the job.
ITC
Flyers were sent out. All ITC registration information and forms are
on the website. Have 25 players signed up already.
Dance:
Everyone that attended had a great time even with the many problems
with the site. Once again, Roundabout was wonderful. Noted that David
Moholland donates his fee for the night. A new site will be found
for next year along with bringing back the silent auction. A new
committee will be formed soon. It was noted that the dance was a
lost of $3,200 this year.
DIT
Permission to host will be sent in later this month. Small-sided will
be advertised and full-sided will be invited back. Trying to eliminate
one site for 2004.
Old Business
Calendar was printed and passed out to all coaches. Next time it will
be mailed out. All dates should be passed in early so it can go out
before the season starts. In spring it will be added to the Touchline.
A big Thank-You to Tom’s "Staff" for all their help.
DYS nights at the high school games were well received
New Business
DYS Policies, return of sportsmanship awards and banquet/picnic will
be discussed in greater detail at future meetings.
Both the Lady Falcons and the Falcons are playing in their divisional
playoff’s semifinal. Good Luck and Kudos’ to a job well
done.
Meeting ended at 10:05 PM
Next meeting December 3, 2003 @ 7:30 PM at Maple Street Church
