Minutes of the Danvers Youth Soccer May Board Meeting

Attending:   David Tye, Jeff MacInnis, Dianne MacInnis, Maureen Merritt, Jeff Chambers, Tom Conway, Loren Rocker, Bob Gilmore, Frank Missett, Tom McNulty, John Barrows, Dave Kamens, Janet Gargan, Neal Hovey, Bob Gabel

 

15 people attended the meeting.

 

The meeting was called to order by President, David Tye at 7:36 pm. 

 

Secretary’s Report - Maureen Merritt

April, 2007 BOD minutes have been posted on website.  Jeff Chambers made a motion to accept April, 2007 meeting minutes; motion was seconded by Frank Missett, motion accepted.

 

President’s report- David Tye

Dave reported his conversation with Don Thornell regarding the Thornell Family’s fundraiser to refurbish the Endicott Park playground in memory of their daughter Shianne.  Don was hoping DYS could help sell 3 sets of 10 Revolution tickets that have been donated for the cause.  Discussion ensued as to how DYS could facilitate.  Jeff Chambers made a motion to authorize the President to buy the 30 Revolution tickets for the Shianne Thornell Memorial Fund for no more than $1,000; motion was seconded by Jeff MacInnis.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Registrar’s Report- Dianne MacInnis

912 players registered.  The new registration form is being used which now includes club team information and tournament interest.  Registration is being held May 3rd at the Danvers High School.  The discount deadline for travel is May 4th.

 

Treasurer’s Report Sharon Pollock (not present)

In the treasurer’s absence, Jeff Chambers made a motion to defer May, 2007 treasurer’s report until next month; seconded by Tom McNulty.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

VP Administration ReportJeff MacInnis

The Mass Premier Soccer Clinics have begun.  More coaches from Mass Premier will be at subsequent clinics.  The program will be moved to the fields at Smith School on May 11th and May 18th as tryouts will being held at Gates field on those dates.  Jeff asked the board if they were comfortable posting a girls soccer clinic run by Meg McKenna through the Danvers recreation department.  There were no objections.  Jeff is currently signing up coaches to act as tryout evaluators for the travel tryouts.


 

 

VP Operations Report Brian Harrison (not present)

Dave Tye reported for Brian.  Goal mouths and trash are both issues at Gates.  Two additional fields needed to be lined that were not included in the budget.  There are some scheduling conflicts at the Aggie with Lacrosse that will be reported to Brian.

 

Travel Director’s ReportDave Kamens

Dave reported travel tryout guidelines as well as travel selection meeting guidelines that have been determined by the Travel committee.  A long discussion ensued as to who should be invited to the tryout selection meeting.

 

Essex County NewsJeff Chambers

On May 21st, a vote will be taken at the Essex County meeting as to whether U10 should be changed to a 6 v 6 format as opposed to the 7 v 7 format used today.  Neal Hovey made a motion for the president and vice president to vote in favor of the 6 v 6 format; Dave Kamens seconded.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

Danvers InvitationalTom Conway

There will be a meeting next Tuesday at Stop and Shop.  We have added two teams, bringing the total teams to 200.  Schedule will be posted in the next day or two. 

 

DSSSF-Jeff Chambers

No report.

 

PicturesMaureen Merritt

Pictures have been scheduled for September 29th (Travel) and September 30th (Intramural) with rain dates of October 13th and October 14th.  The dates are posted on the on line calendar.

 

TouchlineBob Gilmore

Bob has gotten some feed back from coaches who would like to report on games and players. 

 

ScholarshipJanet Gargan

The committee has selected the scholarship winners.

Old Business

 

Loren Rocker – New Travel Uniforms

After obtaining the board’s permission last month, Loren has researched new travel uniforms.  He showed the board some examples of potential new logos designed at REM in Danvers on Hobart St.  The price would be approximately $55 per uniform if purchased from REM.  They will have replacement shirts, pants and socks available in the store.  Loren will get some samples to show the board.

 

Next BOD meeting:  Wed., June 6, 2007 at 8:00 pm at Maple St. Church.  Please note time change for June meeting.
