Secretary’s Report

President’s Report

March and April meeting minutes accepted.  Looking at U12 8v8 goals, may be teaming with other towns to get better price.  Tabled till June 7 meeting until more information obtained.

Thorpe School project: Town Rec Dept. determined need for additional fields. Lacrosse games all away games this Spring. Rec Dept. determined Thorpe School site most desirable. Two legal sized fields in stepped formation. Endorsed by Town Manager, approved by Selectmen unanimously, DYS has gifted 120K to the project. Also endorsed by finance committee unanimously. Final hurdle is two-thirds endorsement by Town Meeting.  DYS needs to support this program.  Town meeting is Mon., May 15.

Email from Bob Trudeau, ECYSA, disappointed with condition of Gates Field. Brian Harrison fixed the field in the short term.  Long term solution needs to be developed, perhaps moving the goals to the side during the week.

Tryouts: Meeting held on format. 3v3, 4v4 format retained along with 6v6 or 8v8 format later in the practice. 75 minutes for the tryouts, may run a little over. 3 issues: Some players can not make any tryouts.  DYS needs a firm and consistent policy that is well-communicated.  Make up day for tryouts will be June 2 in case of rainouts. Tryouts will only be cancelled if town closes the fields.

Project Graduation: All night event for DHS Seniors.  DYS is contributing  $500 to it.

Pictures for fall: We need a volunteer for this.

Gates field parking: Senior center holding floral show May 20,21. Only parking will be in the front area. Alternate parking will be at Highlands School, no parking on Hobart St. We must make it work or soccer will be cancelled.

Stone St. entrance should not be used at all for parking. All access should be by Hobart St. entrance.

Motion made and accepted to allocate $2500 for planning of Thorpe School project, to be paid immediately

Treasurer’s Report

DIT report presented. Monthly report presented.  Treasurer’s report accepted.

Registrar’s Report

~900 players registered for Spring. Fall registration went off, 300 registrations for Fall so far. Travel registrations look pretty good.  Another registration June 15. Getting many mail-in registrations.  Questions about hardship waivers.

VP Admin’s Report

U7 program: Team restructuring seems to have worked out.  Minor issue with structure of time periods, there was some confusion about the structure of the games. It will be sorted out between VP and referee assignor.

U10 program: A few teams are very short of players.

Clinics: MPS clinics continuing throughout the season.  Should be put on website.

U6 additions to U7 players. May be a way to address player shortages at U7 level. Process needs to be developed to implement this.

Summer Soccer Blitz: June 11

Plains Park Snack Bar – careful attention must be paid to this site to make sure the snack bar worker is not left alone at the park.

New Business

Fall small-sided tournament – need to appoint directors and to get MYSA permission to host. Rec. Dept. is supportive as are the veterans groups we have contacted.
