Minutes of the DYS Monthly Meeting
May 2, 2001 Meeting began at 8:05
Attending the meeting were:
Kevin Burge, Dave Clarkson, Tom Conway, Janet Gargan, Bob Trudeau, Larry Davis, Jeff Chambers, Mike Gilbert, Frank Pellino, Tom Guidi, Scott James, Al DeBenedictis, Bob Gabel, Phil Sullivan, Larry Pickering, Ed Wisniewski,Chip Moore, David Tye and Sandy Lewis (guest).
Meeting attended by 19 people.
President Items
Tom Conway opened the meeting by introducing Sandy Lewis. Sandy provided some background information on the Smith School Playground Project and made a request for a donation from DYS. After Sandy left, the board approved a donation to the project given the relationship between the Smith School facilities and the DYS Intramural program over the years.
Secretary Report
The April minutes were approved.

Treasurers Report:
The March and April Treasurers reports were approved.
Registrars report:
Final registration numbers for the U7-U10 Spring intramural season were announced. There are 697 intramural players, which when added to the travel program of 548, means there are 1245 players in DYS !

Registration will be held at Danvers High School (either Room 101 or the high school cafeteria) between 6:30 and 8:30pm on the following nights:
Tuesday, May 29
Thursday, May 31
Tuesday, June 12
Thursday, June 14
Labels have been produced for the Salem State Soccer camp and those will be mailed to households by Salem State.
Travel report:
Ed Wisniewski and David Tye have graciously stepped up to become co-directors for the Travel Directors position. Jeff Chambers will be transitioning his duties to Ed and Dave during this spring season.
Tentative 2001-2002 Travel Tryout Schedule
DYS will be holding tryouts to form select U12 and U14 travel teams for the fall 2001/Spring 2002 seasons. Tryouts will be held at Gates Field, RAIN OR SHINE.
Girls: Sunday, June 3 and Monday, June 4
Boys: Sunday, June 10 and Monday, June 11
U12: 6:30 to 8:00 PM
U14: 5:00 to 6:30 PM
There will be a travel committee meeting prior to June 3rd to discuss the process and communication to be used this year. This meeting will be coordinated by Jeff, Ed and Dave.
Thus far the Spring Essex County season is off to a good start for Danvers teams.
VP of Operations Report:
The DYS intramural season started without any major issues.
At this time the Board wishes a speedy recovery to Ernie Dion, VP Operations who recently suffered an injury- a soccer related injury !
VP of Administration Report:
The DYS intramural season started without any major issues.
Player Development
Phil Sullivan brought the board up to date on the player development plan being used.
Game evaluations by a professional coach
Team Clinic the night after the game
A general clinic to be organized for identified areas requiring improvement
By May 5th, 12 teams will be covered
Possible areas for a general clinic : possession, confidence on the ball, communication and closing down a game
Looking into hosting a Renegades game @ Deering Stadium, Danvers. Possible date will be June 7th. Keep your eyes out for more information on this.
The Touchline
All DYS families should have received the Spring Edition of the Touchline this past month. Thanks to Tom Guidi for a great job - again !
The 10th Annual Danvers Invitational Tournament:
We welcome as many DYS parents as possible to volunteer. If interested in helping out contact Janet Gargan or send an email to dys@theglobe.com
This years tournament will be the BIGGEST and BEST yet !
Participating teams have been finalized
Registration for the tournament on Friday evening (May 25th) will be at the Middle School Cafeteria, 5:00 - 8:00 PM
Scheduling is almost done and will be on the DIT official website May 18th (http://www.tecsolutions.cncdsl.com/dit2001.html)
Volunteers will be called shortly
Hartnett's Car Wash will be sponsoring this years Sportsmen Award.
Scheduled DIT Committee Meetings are Wednesday, May 9th; Tuesday May 15th and Wednesday May 23rd. All meetings will be at the Danvers Plaza Super Stop and Shop conference room at 7:30pm.
New Business:
As mentioned earlier, Ed Wisniewski and David Tye have graciously stepped up to become co-directors for the Travel Directors position. To accommodate this, and possible other co-Directors, the bylaws of DYS need to be changed. Tom Guidi, Esq. and Dave Clarkson will review and propose changes at the next board meeting in anticipation of formally voting in Ed and Dave.
