Minutes of the DYS Monthly Meeting
March 1, 2000 Meeting began at 7:43
Attending the meeting were:
Janet Gargan, Steve Gargan, Frank Pellino, Jeff Chambers, Bob Trudeau, Brian McQuesten, Dave Clarkson, Ernie Dion, Al DeBenedictis, Steve Burrill, Chip Moore, Ellen Chambers, Dick Crotts, Jerry Morin, Mike Gilbert, Tom Guidi, Jim Russo, Kim Butcher, Kevin Burge and Larry Davis.
Meeting attendance was 20 people.
Secretarys Report:
March minutes were approved.

The DYS web site, www.danversyouthsoccer.org, will have a new look&feel the first week of March.
The Zero tolerance policy , which became part of the DYS conduct policy at the February meeting, was reviewed and approved. This policy will be sent out with the minutes and will be kept on the DYS website

Registrars report:
Last registration before the Spring season will be Wednesday March 8th : 6:30 8 PM
On March 1st, Tom Conway was attending a MYSA meeting regarding a trial of on-line registration. Tom will update the board at the April meeting.
Administration Report:
The All-New England Coaches Meeting will be held March 24-25 at Soccer Etc. in Beverly. It runs on Friday evening and during the day on Saturday. If interested in attending, notify Kevin Burge (DYSKevinB@aol.com).
There will be a G-license course offered the end of March. If interested in attending, notify Kevin Burge (DYSKevinB@aol.com).
**Spring Coaches Meeting : The intramural coaches meeting for the upcoming Spring season will be held on Tuesday March 28th. The meeting will begin at 7:00 PM in the Fieldhouse with a clinic run by the Boston BullDogs and Renegades. After the clinic, the meeting portion will be held in the high school cafeteria.
Boston BullDogs and Renegades : In addition to the coaches meeting, the BullDogs and Renegades will be participating in the Saturday AM U-6 program this Spring; run a Women's coaching clinic; have a presence in the 2000 Danvers Invitational Tournament and may run a Goalkeepers clinic. DYS will also have a DYS night at the Boston BullDogs vs. Long Island game on June 9th and a DYS night at the Boston Renegades vs. Springfield game on June 17th. Information on these events will be distributed at the Coaches meeting or can be found on the website.
The Referee training class held in early February was attended by 40 people with 36 registering to referee for DYS on Sundays. DYS paid for the course and registration fees. The attendees are now USSF Grade 11 Referees. Congratulations to all ! A motion to have the cost of uniforms split between DYS and the referees was passed (approximate cost is the pay for one game).

Travel Report:
Essex County travel season starts April 8 no games on Easter or Memorial Day weekend.
Two new coaches approved : Don Cann / U12G Dynamos and Brian McDonald / U16G.

Travel Coaches MUST attend a meeting or cannot coach first game.March 29 Kings Grant at 7PM
or if unable to attend on 3/29, an alternate Essex County meeting will be held :
March 28 Georgetown Country Club 7PM
April 2 Eastman-Gelatine Peabody 7PM
Operations Report:
Ernie Dion has field permits for St. Johns Prep for the Memorial Day Tournament and for the YMCA fields for the spring season. Still waiting to hear from the town for all other fields.
The DYS garage will be remodeled and organized during March. An inventory of equipment will also be accomplished during this timeframe.
The 2000 Spring season will have 9 scheduled games over 11 weeks. The season will start Saturday/Sunday April 15/16 and end on Sunday June 25. No games on Easter or Memorial Day weekend.
The first operations meeting will be held during the week of March 6.
Intramural Tournament Committee:
144 registered players for spring tournament soccer. 11 teams to be formed. Coaches meeting will be March 2.
Treasurers Report and Budget:
Motion to approve February Treasurers report as presented by Brian McQuesten, unanimously approved.
Danvers Invitational Tournament:
Next DIT meeting is March 15 at Stop and Shop 7:30 PM. ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND HELP PLAN OUR BIG SOCCER EVENT OF THE YEAR.
55 teams registered as of 3/1. Any DYS travel team that wishes to play in the tournament must register like any other team.
The Sheraton hotel has booked 615 rooms thus far. More rooms are needed and a solution is being worked on.
Other New Business:
The TOUCHLINE : Interesting articles wanted ! Any material to be included in the spring issue must be sent to Tom Guidi by April 2 ( tguidi@hembar.com)
The MYSA annual meeting will be held March 18.
The Danvers All Sports day was a success and DYS was well represented !!
