1.) Secretary’s Report

Due to illness, minutes will be recorded tonight and secretary will
record off tape. February minutes handed out and made it on website today, minutes tonight to show amendment of adding Tom Laughlin to the Attendance record of February. Minutes accepted as noted.

2.) Treasurer’s Report

February cash reports passed out and accepted as written. Tax filing status was discussed.

3.) Administration

Coaches Meeting to be held on March 25, 2004 at the Danvers Savings Bank new meeting room. Spring season will be April 25th to June 27th. Spring teams show a high percentage of returning players. Kudos’ to David Kamens on tracking this information down. Topsfield will have 10 teams, 5 boys 5 girls. Play will be schedules like the fall. Mass Premier will hold clinics and help out with try-outs this spring.

4.) Operations

Spring permits have been applied for including the DIT needs. Waiting to hear about a all sport field meeting with town. Had meeting with Jennifer Lynch, Larry Davis and John Barrows. Stadium will only be available for the DIT.

An inventory of the Plains Park storage area was done by the Davis’ and John.

Balls have been ordered. John, Larry, Town Rep and Len Mercier met at the YMCA to discuss field, outcome looks to be the town doing cutbacks, Y doing the barrier and DYS doing the top filling of field. Have put the Y work out to bid and only 1 reply form the Green Company. $8300 just to upgrade surface, using less top soil it could be done for $6000. Hope to have more bids by next meeting. Look into repairing goal mouths at Gates.

5.) Registrar’s Report

As of today there are 983 registered players, that is 168 players down
from last year. There are two walk-in registrations planned, Tuesday, April 13, 2004 and Monday, May 3, 2004. Flyers will be distributed with all information. DYS data base is ongoing. MYSA will be changing their coaches forms for coaches, a Cori check will be required on all adult volunteers, this will take place over the next couple of years, if they need more info then we have they will ask us for it. Discussed if a social security number will be required or not.
Will wait to see what occurs.

6) Touchline

Tom needs all info by Monday, March 8, 2004. DYS is still looking for
someone to train and take over the Touchline.

7) Travel

ECYSA season starts on April 4, 2004 for the U-16 & up while the U-12& U-14’s start on April 17th. Due to no stadium use ECYSA will have to reschedule some Sunday games, most likely will just move to Gates 2 and JV as needed. The mandatory ECYSA coaches meeting will be as follows, U-16 and up on March 25th and the U12 & U14’s will be on April 1st. Both meetings are at the Georgetown Country Club with registration starting at 6:30 PM and the meeting at 7:00
PM.

At this time they are not enough full-sided referees to go around. There will be games across Essex County that will not have refs. Be prepared, bring a whistle and watch to all your games.

DYS has the same issue with the same asst. coach as we did in the fall
concerning being properly registered with Essex County as he still refuses to turn in his old coaches card from the 2002-2003 season. We have not nor can we have him on the roster, nor is he active with DYS anymore. He just refuses to abide by the rules. Because of this issue ECYSA will be issuing new cards at the start of the fall season that will be dated and only in good standing for 1 year and be decertified in January. As this spring is the last time he will be able to use this card we will ignore for the spring and if he wishes to be on the sidelines come fall he will be forced to follow the rules.

Try out flyer was discussed with minor corrections approved for handing out. There will be a need for experienced coaches to evaluate along with the use of Mass Premier.

8) DIT

165 teams so far, cut off date is March 26th for small-sided, full sided
has already closed out at 100 teams. Any changes to that will be posted on website. Discussed the pros/cons of Destiny playing up in the U-16 division. The full-sided placement meeting will be held on March 10th , 7:00 PM at Tom Conway’s. Next DIT meeting will be on Weds. March 31st, 7:30 PM at the new Stop& Shop.

9) ITC

Spring ITC teams were formed and coaches chosen. There were 11 teams formed 2-U8G, 1 U8B, 5 U10B, 3 U10G. Have been told to register for the DIT ASAP. Noted that Carmen Pope will step down from this position after the Fall ITC Formation. Need to find someone to take over for next year.

10) New Business

MYSA updates on land was mentioned along with USYSA fees going up. The new Cori checks on adults was brought up again (see Administration) When DYS knows more it will be mentioned.

Next meeting April 7, 2004 @ 7:30 PM at the Maple Street Church
