Minutes of the DYS Monthly Meeting
June 8, 2000 – Meeting began at 8:11
Attending the meeting were:

Meeting attendance was 25 people.
Secretary’s Report:
Motion to approve the May minutes as written, unanimously approved.

Treasurer’s Report:
Motion to approve the May Treasurer’s report as presented, unanimously approved
Next month vote to change the DYS by-laws:
There will be a vote at the July board meeting to change the DYS by-laws in two areas. All voting board members need to make an effort to be at the meeting.
To increase the dollar amount on checks that require two signatures from $100 to $500
To increase from $100 to $500 the amount of expenditure requiring a board vote.
Registrar’s report:
Starting with the May 11th registration, DYS is now able to support an "online registration" process via Zvia. Issues that surfaced on the first night (5/11) were resolved for the 6/1 registration night. Zvia will be sending out registration instructions to all DYS families.
Remaining registration dates for the 2000-2001 season will be June 13 and June 15. Both days will be held in the High School Library from 6:30 - 8:00 PM. (Note: the library is now being used to accommodate online registration). Also, if there are any board members able to help out on those nights, your assistance would be appreciated.
As of June 8th, 380 players have registered : 98 U12G, 69 U12B, 71 U14G, and 56 U14B.
Reminder for Intramural Coaches and Coordinators : Intramural ratings are needed by the end of June.
Danvers Invitational Tournament:
The DIT2000, held over the Memorial Day weekend, was a success!
A big congratulations and thanks to the co-directors :
Bob Trudeau and Janet Gargan.
The board also recognized the committee members and all the volunteers who made the tournament a success.

The organization was outstanding
The competition was great
No major problems. Thanks to all the players, coaches and spectators!
The fields were in excellent shape - a thanks to the Town of Danvers
Concessions/apparel received high grades
A big thanks to Ernie Dion who worked to get the Danvers Senior Center/Gates Field connector road completed in time for the tournament - in addition to soliciting volunteers and getting the operational issues resolved.
Travel Report:
Tryouts for Travel Season 2000-2001 for the girls were held June 4th and 5th @ Gates Field and went smooth. The boy's tryouts are scheduled for June 11th and 12th. 93 U12 Girls (44 Jr/49 Sr.) and 75 U14 (40 Jr/35 Sr.) participated in tryouts. The board approved another set of pennies to be used for tryouts, as well as games. These pennies should alleviate some of the confusion at tryouts.
There will be a number of DYS teams going to Essex County playoffs. Congratulations to those teams ! Volunteer time will be requested and needed for the Essex county playoffs.
NOTE: Gates Field will be used as a satellite field for the Essex County first round playoffs on Thursday June 15. Please note that the field will be closed to practice at Gates.
For those of you who like to plan ahead, the 2000 Fall Essex County season will start on Saturday September 9, 2000. Mark that date in your Palm Pilot !
Administration Report:
The intramural players' evaluation is currently a high priority. Coaches recruitment for the Fall 2000 season is also underway.
The in-town referees have been working out well this Spring as has the U06 program with the BullDogs and Renegades.
In August, there will be courses for licenses G,F,E. In interested contact Kevin Burge or send an email to DYS@theglobe.com.
32 DYS players attended the instructional goalie session held in May.
Operations Report:
The access road between the Gates parking area and the Senior Center was completed the week before the tournament. The Senior Center lot can be used on Saturday and Sunday only!
