1. Gaylen’s
A representative
from Gaylen’s
Sports store made a presentation of their
Coaches Club program. Basically sounds like a great idea, discounts
for coach
and players, special notice of events and sales, coupons etc. It will
only
take a coach about five minutes to register at the store. Looking into
having
notice put in fall coaches packets. Also will look into Gaylen’s
has a sponsor
for the DIT.
2. Secretary’s report
May minutes handed out, on web and accepted as written.
3. Treasurers report
Cash
reports for May and DIT handed out and discussed. A few outstanding
checks will be looked into and stop payments issued if need be and
new checks
issued as needed. Both reports accepted as written.
4. Administrations
One
Topsfield boys team dropped out of the U-10 program, Topsfield’s
Rick
Sherman to work out last three weeks of play making sure that it will
be
Topsfield teams that get the bye. Will need to decide at summer meeting
if we will
continue this program or not come this fall. Other towns have approached
DYS
on this and overall the board is skeptical of adding or switching towns.
David
Tye and David Kamens have been looking for U-6 coaches and will continue
to
do such. David Tye will be setting up an Intramural Committee meeting
to
discuss the upcoming fall season as to the U-10 program, the Mass Pro/
School of
Excellence, the U-7 program and any other issues that come up from
a e-mail that
will be sent out to Intramural coaches asking for any feedback. It
was brought
to the boards attention that an Aztec Club rep has been at the fields
passing
out flyers on game days. David Kamens has set up F & G coaches
courses to
held over the summer. Flyers will be passed out and the information
will be on
the DYS website and on ECYSA’s website.
5. Operations
The
work at the YMCA field is complete and the whole area is much larger.
The goalmouths at Gates are an ongoing concern. The board approved
up to
$8000 for assisting the town for needed repairs there. Discussed the
idea of
having the work done at the end of the fall season. John will talk
to Jack about
what can be done. An e-mail will go out at the end of the season for
an
equipment drop-off day.
6. Registrar’s report
77%
of all travel have been processed so far for a 288 number, everything
needs to be done before July 24th. The numbers are down 25% from
last
year.
7. Travel report.
A U-16 girls team folded after only playing two games and forfeiting
four. Discussed running up scores and the reason why not to. One DYS
coach has
been banned from coaching a result to the incident previously reported.
As of
tonight, the U-19 girls team is going to States and a number of DYS
teams are in
the running to go to Pingree. Tryouts are finished and the boys teams
are
formed, the girls team formation meeting will be this Sunday.
8. DIT
The
DIT was a big success for all involved. Results have been posted
on
website. When a U-16 team dropped out on Saturday morning within hours
of their
first scheduled game, the team from Marblehead ended up only getting
to play
two games. A refund of $125 will be issued and sent out to the Marblehead
team. No refund will be issued to the team that dropped. On Friday
it came to the
DIT’s attention that a club team had been accepted by the coaches
implying
that the team was a town team. As they were at the U-10 level the team
was forced
to play up in the A division and will not be allowed back. The new
sportsmanship medals were a big hit with all the teams and a lot less
work for DIT
staff. A number of Danvers Teams made the semi’s and the finals.
Those teams are:
U-16 - Dominators - semi’s
Destiny - Champs
Liberty - 2nd place
U-12 - Gunners - Champs
Destroyers - Champs
Freedom - Champs
Breakers - 2nd Place
There is a dire need of more volunteers for next year if the DIT is
to
continue. A follow up meeting will take place over the summer.
9. New business
ITC only about half have signed up for fall (34) deadline is June
30th.
The
next meeting will be the annual summer family cook-out meeting. Place,
date and time to be announce.
Meeting adjourned at 9:40 PM
