June Monthly Board Meeting
June 5, 2002 – Meeting began at 8:05
Attending the meeting were:
Tom Conway, Janet Gargan, Larry Davis, Jeff Chambers, Mike Gilbert, Tom Guidi, Bob Gabel, Chip Moore, David Tye, Ernie Dion, Steve Gargan,, John Barrows, Frank Pellino, Neal Hovey, Dave Clarkson, Brett Amico, Bruce Ocko.
Meeting attended by 17 people.
Secretary Report
The May minutes were approved.
Secretary has been having trouble with his email account, delaying web updates. Situation has been resolved.
Treasurer’s Report:
May Activity reported.
Tournament Activity reported.
Treasurer’s report accepted.
Registrar’s report:
Fall Registration June 6,11 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the DHS Cafeteria.
Approximately 97 U12 Boys have registered and 92 U14 Boys.
Travel Report:
Playoff coaches meeting June 11, 7:30 pm Peabody Marriott.
Girls Travel team formation meeting Friday June 7, 7:30 pm at the firehouse.
Boys Travel team formation meeting Thursday June 13, 7:30 pm at the firehouse.
VP of Operations Report:
Motion made and accepted to compensate Allan Hartnett for damage done to the Parade trailer on Memorial Day.
June 13, 14,15 Gates field off-limits for DYS teams due to Essex County Playoffs.
VP of Administration Report:
Acrylic trophies will be awarded to U6 and U7 players at the end of the season.
Problems identified with U10 play in the Fall (playing time, competitiveness) seem to be much improved in the Spring.
Coaching clinics to be held in August, dates TBD. License courses may be run in conjunction with another town.
Intramural Tournament Committee
ITC volunteers to take over running U7 division at DIT.
Also proposed that it take charge of organizing intramural ratings, as the ITC needs the ratings quickly to form tournament teams.
Danvers Invitational Tournament
Involvement of volunteers is appreciated by the DIT committee.
Majority of feedback on DIT website is complimentary, along with a few complaints.
Relatively few incidents during the tournament.
New ideas for next year include moving small sided fields from John George Field to Plains. This should alleviate the parking situation at George.
New Business
Next meeting will be the combined July-August meeting. Date is Wed., Aug. 7, time and place TBD.
