Minutes of the DYS Monthly Meeting
June 6, 2001 Meeting began at 8:11
Attending the meeting were:
Tom Conway, Janet Gargan, Jeff Chambers, Frank Pellino, Tom Guidi, Al DeBenedictis, Phil Sullivan, Chip Moore, Ernie Dion, Jim Russo, Rick Martin, Steve Gargan, John Barrows and Brett Amico.
Meeting attended by 14 people.
Secretary Report
The May minutes were approved.

Treasurers Report:
The May Treasurers report was approved. The preliminary expenses and revenues associated with tournament were reviewed. Final numbers will be known in about a month. Financially, as well as the soccer, the tournament was a success.
Registrars report:
Thus far the spring registration nights has seen 421 players register for the fall. The following registration dates remain between 6:30 and 8:30pm:
Tuesday, June 12 @ Danvers High School cafeteria
Thursday, June 14 @ Deering Stadium in conjunction with the Renegades.
Travel report:
The June 2 rain has caused a number of games to be re-scheduled during the last week. All games need to be rescheduled by Sunday June 10th.
There have been a number of incidents this spring involving parents, coaches and kids. Please, let's keep the soccer games in perspective.
There is a potential issue with some club players being asked to decide between town teams and club teams.
Travel Tryout for the girls were held June 3rd and 4th. There were 35-40 girls in each age group per night trying out. A note was passed out to the parents at tryouts explaining why there are tryouts; the expectations of tryouts etc; and a reminder about travel conflicts/schedules.
The boys will hold tryouts on Sunday, June 10 and Monday, June 11
U12: 6:30 to 8:00 PM
U14: 5:00 to 6:30 PM
VP of Operations Report:
Approved at the meeting was the expense of purchasing a shed at Gates for storage.
NOTE : this was the shortest report by the VP of Operations during his tenure - thanks Ernie !!
The 10th Annual Danvers Invitational Tournament:
By now everyone knows that the tournament is over and was a success. Janet Gargan reported on three areas : those items that were new in 2001; those that were unfortunate; and a "future list"

Earlier deadlines
ITC:
The teams in the DIT were more competitive than in recent years. Some teams take U10's more serious than Danvers
June 12th, 2001 is the deadline to register for fall 2001 Intramural Tournament teams.
Player ratings will be needed for fall team formation
New Business:
The board approved a contribution to the Dana Rollins Scholarship fund.
Bylaws changes : Tom Guidi presented Draft bylaws changes. These are to be circulated and reviewed by board members. If a board member needs a copy, contact Tom Guidi.
The small-sided referee course on August 4th will be held at Eastman-Kodak in Peabody.
A discussion on "Coaches Conduct" and coaching etiquette concluded the meeting. There will be more discussion on this topic over the summer months.
