Referees:

Small sided referees dwindled from 40 in the spring 2000 season to 17 in the fall. Of these 17 only 10 registered for the up coming 2001 spring season. 16 new players have signed up giving DYS a max total of 26 referees.

DYS will pay for registration and course fee ($25/referee)

If numbers dwindle we may be forced to use coaches as referees in the U7 program

ITC:

Registration for spring on Tues, Feb 6th at 7:30pm in room 101 of high school along with intramural registration. Expecting similar numbers as last year.

DIT 2001:

Kickoff meeting on Wednesday, Jan 17th, 7:30pm at Stop & Shop - Everyone's Invited!

Ad placed with BayStater for next issue. Bob Trudeau and Janet Gargan were interviewed by the BayStater so look for it!

After 8 years the Ferncroft will no longer be a DIT sponsor. They booked Memorial Day weekend 2 years ago and neglected to tell DYS. The Tournament committee is soliciting other area hotels.

An exciting and another first; Lynn and Danvers are combining resources and will offer the Memorial Day tournament to U18's boys and Girls.

NEW BUSINESS

Budget 2001:

Reviewed and accepted as modified by the membership

Budget looks break-even with inclusion of DIT income

Player Development

Phil Sullivan put together a nice pitch outlining his aspirations for player development. The Player development budget was approved as part of the general budget but may need tweaking after the committee meets this month. Some key points…

Have Renegades and Bulldogs assess how DYS teams are doing NOW by reviewing some of our games and practices.

Start small, 1st focus on U10-U14's

Each coach in DYS given a coupon for 2 hours of professional coaching to use as he or she sees fit to benefit their team

Does not include U6 fundamentals since that program is professionally managed now.

Soccer Camps:

Dave Mountain has asked that any DYS camps or clinics not conflict with his camps with Play Soccer and MLS since he has contracts with them

Meeting adjourned at 10:00PM

Next meeting on February 7th at 7:30 PM
