DYS INCLEMENT
WEATHER POLICY
DYS has designated a committee consisting of the President, the two Vice Presidents,
the Chairman of the Fields Committee, and the Head of Referees to determine the
playing status of all fields on the day of a game. The Committee will make a
decision by 11:00 A.M. If the fields are unplayable, then coaches will be notified
by 11:45 A.M. by their coordinators. If the fields are determined to be playable,
then no phone calls will be made and teams are expected to be at the field to
play a game. If the inclement weather persists, then the referee at the scheduled
kickoff will make the decision. Due to the varied nature of the Danvers soccer
facilities (with regard to drainage and general field composition) games at one
facility may be canceled due to the field conditions at that facility while other
DYS games may proceed as scheduled.
It is not the intent of DYS to override a parent’s decision.
Parents certainly retain the right to decide if their child will participate
in a game in inclement
weather. DYS will make every effort to consider the safety and health of the
children in our program, while also recognizing that soccer is a worldwide sport
played in a variety of weather conditions.
If in doubt as to a game being played:
If you are a coach, call your coordinator.
If you are a parent, contact your coach or assistant coach.
If you do not receive a call, then assume the game is being played.
Any games that are cancelled may be made up if both coaches want to play. The
game will be set up through the Division Coordinator and the Head of Referees.
A minimum of 3 days notice is necessary to ensure field availability and assigning
of a referee.
Man’s Best Friend
Please do not bring your dogs to the DYS fields. Dogs are not welcome during
games or practices as they cause damage to the fields and have frightened spectators
and even interfered with play. |
