Gates Field
Dear
Parents
We are trying our best to make the parking situation as organized as possible
at the Gates Field complex. In order to make the flow of traffic in and out
of the lots, and optimize the parking space availability, we must have your
help.
Available Space
We have the original Gate parking lot, plus the Senior Center parking lot available.
The Senior Center parking lot is available on weekends only, and has access
through the new connector road near the far right corner when you enter the
main Gates parking lot. The gate or chain will be opened on Friday nights/Saturday
morning, and will be locked back up Sunday evenings. Between these two lots
there should be sufficient parking for all events. There is a sign as you enter
the main lot that states there is a back lot for parking. Please do not exit
the Senior Center parking lot through Stone and Martin Street. We have been
asked to enter and exit through the Hobart Street entrance.
Traffic Flow
We need your help making the flow of traffic in and out of both lots as efficient
as possible.
When entering the parking lot as you drive down the entrance road, please observe
the "ONE WAY à RIGHT TURN ONLY" sign. The purpose of this
is to get the flow of traffic entering at the Witch Memorial end of the lot,
then flowing down the far side (porta-pottie side) heading towards the back
Senior Center parking lot. This way the vehicles are already on the right side
to enter the back lot, and will help prevent traffic jams from people trying
to come in from the field side (guard railing side) of the lot.
When exiting the parking lot as you exit the Senior Center lot you will notice
a sign that states "DO NOT ENTER à ONE WAY" which will direct
the traffic to exit the field side (guard rail side) and you will notice a
sign that says "EXIT" at the far end. This will get the flow of traffic
flowing outwards, and on the right side of the road to exit the lot, and help
eliminate traffic jams.
No Parking
There are "NO PARKING" signs everywhere. These signs/areas are not
being taken seriously, and must be for safety reasons. These areas are marked
to ensure emergency equipment can make there way into the park in the event
an emergency is required. The handy cap area parking is another area not be
left for handy cap. From the tree line area to the far right handy cap sign
should only be for handy cap people only. Near the tree line area there should
be no cars parked as this is an entrance area for people to enter the fields.
Along the incoming road (both sides), along the porta-pottie tree line area,
and the guard rail area near the water bubbler are areas that people continue
to park as well. These are no parking areas, and we will start having cars
towed if people continue to violate or ignore the restricted areas.
The first set of games should fill the main Gates lot. The in-coming second
set of games should go directly to the Senior Center parking lot. The third
set of game will fill the front main lot again, and so on as the day goes along.
We asked for your help to make parking as efficient and organized as possible.
If everyone follows this simple set of rules, and obeys the restrictions for "NO
PARKING" it will work, and we shouldn’t have any parking issues.
We thank you in advance for you help making this system work.
Thanks,
