Minutes of the DYS
February 2002 Monthly Board Meeting
Meeting began at 7:40
Attending the meeting were:
Tom Conway, Janet Gargan, Bob Trudeau, Larry Davis, Jeff Chambers, Mike Gilbert, Tom Guidi, Al DeBenedictis, Bob Gabel, Phil Sullivan, Chip Moore, David Tye, Ernie Dion, Steve Gargan,, Ellen Chambers, John Barrows, Frank Pellino, Neal Hovey, Dave Clarkson, Jan Hanley.
Guests included Mike Grandmaison and Brian Bugler from DALL.
Meeting(s) attended by 22 people.
Meeting began at 7:40 pm.
Mike Grandmaison from Danvers American Little League presented a plan to expand the storage facility/snack bar to include a set of bathrooms. Financial support from DYS was requested given that DYS uses Plains Parks. The point was made that in addition to bathrooms, DYS would find a section of the storage space allocated for its use very valuable. Various contribution amounts were discussed. Mike Grandmaison agreed to discuss the storage issue with DALL.
Secretary Report
The January minutes were approved.
It was decided to move the DYS website from Geocities to a hosting company. This will permit an expanded website (especially including digital photography). Funding for the move will come from the Secretary’s budget.
The website will be updated to include more detailed information on age requirements for play in DYS.
Treasurer’s Report:
The DYS 2002 budget was presented and approved.
Registrar’s report:
Spring registration happened as planned on Feb. 5 at the high school.
Work is in progress to update the travel cards.
A few travel registrations for the spring received.
Travel report:
Essex County coaches meeting March 27, 7:30 pm Georgetown CC. Check Essex County website for details.
VP of Operations Report:
A possible new garage has been located. Possibility of storing at Plains Park in DALL facility is also an option.
New soccer balls for the spring season have been ordered.
Have met with town officials regarding spring permits.
VP of Administration Report:
G, F and E license courses are being organized for the spring. Dates TBD.
New England Coaches Clinic March 23, 24 at Soccer Etc. in Beverly. Check www.kerskersoccer.com for more details. Coaches interested should inform Jeff Chambers so that the level of DYS interest may be gauged. If interest is sufficient, DYS may organize a package deal for the NECC.
Boston Renegades Women’s team has committed to play at the DHS stadium during the Memorial Day Tournament, assuming DIT stadium logistics permit it.
Considering purchasing a number of "Coaches Corner" season tickets to the Revolution, as well as flex tickets to the Renegades.
Intramural Tournament Committee
ITC Spring signup deadline was Feb. 5.
Next ITC meetings: Feb 20, 6:30 pm Rm 101 at DHS – team selection.
Feb 28 6:30 pm same location – coach selection.
Danvers Invitational Tournament
Volunteers are needed for this year’s tournament! A significant portion of the DYS annual budget comes from the tournament – please help keep the tournament the premier event that it is!
