Minutes of the DYS Monthly Meeting

Meeting attendance was 20 people.

GIRLS U-13 TRYOUT for the FORCE Athletic Club (birthdates 8/1/87 to 7/31/88)

Tryouts will be held at Lynnfield High, August 12th, from 4 to 5:30. Coach Stephanie Miano can be reached at 781-933-4475 if you have questions. U14 Girls for the Force are looking for a Goal keeper.

A thank you was received from Brian McDonald, coach of the U16G Diamonds for the team shirts purchased by DYS.

Travel Report:

Start date for the travel season is Sept. 9. There will be an Aug. 31st meeting for town directors and schedules will go out following that meeting. Jeff Chambers requested advanced placement listing from Essex County for fall teams.

Secretary’s Report:

Motion to approve the July minutes as written, unanimously approved.

Registrar’s report:

Registration for the fall season was successful with a total of 955 players registering, 497 girls and 458 boys. On Line Registration is on pause due to a buyout of our original registration company by MYTEAM.com. With this new company, the registration can be customized at the town level. They are located in Woburn.

Treasurer’s Report:

Motion to approve the July Treasurer’s report as presented, unanimously approved.

VP of Administration Report:

Courses for licenses have been set up for E and F licenses. There will be no G license this fall. There is still room for E candidates and a few spaces for the F license. For further information, contact Kevin Burge or e-mail DYS@theglobe.com.

The Intramural COACHES MEETING will be held on 8/29. Details will follow.

There will be a U-6 Parents meeting on August 31st – "Welcome to Danvers Youth Soccer!" Time and place to be determined.

Operations Report:

Schedules have been completed for an 8 week season beginning Sept. 10 and ending November 5. There are no intramural games on Columbus Day weekend. Permits for fields have been issued to DYS from August 12th – November 12th.

Field Improvements are in the works at both GATES and SMITH 1 FIELDS to improve them for the upcoming soccer season! Signs are up stating the fields are off limits and they have been roped off. Permanent team benches will be installed at Gates as well.

Both Smith 1 and Gates will be closed until August 20th. Use of these fields is pending approval from the Grounds Committee. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THIS DATE WILL BE EXTENDED! Please wait for approval to use these fields. .


Feel free to use Smith 2 and 3, YMCA, Plains or Riverside as alternatives for practices.

For the next few weeks, Plains is being used by U-12 Boys on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-8. A field is lined and ready for use.

Referee Update: there are 15 referees of 40 returning from the 99-00 season. Some Essex County referees will be used in order to cover games. Jerry Morin suggested that we consider age 14 as a requirement for referees. As well, he requested that we look at the differences between DYS and Essex County rules to be sure that refereeing will be consistent. We agreed to compare them.

Intramural Tournament Committee (ITC)

Meeting was held to determine Fall Tournament teams. The coaches and teams are set for a total of 9 teams playing both Labor Day and Columbus Day weekends. All are welcome to join this committee. U7 and U8 parents – your involvement is welcome.

Frank Pellino is the chairperson.

TOUCHLINE

Touchline will be sent out at the beginning of the fall season. AUGUST 25th is the deadline for all information. If you are interested in helping out with the editing, call Tom Guidi. This is a twice a year minimal time commitment.

Nominating Committee

Kevin Burge is the chairperson for this committee to nominate officers for the following

four positions – President, Treasurer, Registrar and Travel Director.
