Minutes of the DYS Monthly Meeting

April 5, 2000 – Meeting began at 7:35

Attending the meeting were:

Janet Gargan, Frank Pellino, Jeff Chambers, Bob Trudeau, Brian McQuesten, Dave Clarkson, Ernie Dion, Al DeBenedictis, Chip Moore, Mike Gilbert, Tom Guidi, Kim Butcher, Kevin Burge, Tom Conway, Steve Kennedy, Shelly O'Donnell, Archie Archambault, Phil Sullivan, Scott James, Jared Scarpaci, Larry Pickering, Mark Dabrieo, Patty Carner, Bob Barrows and Larry Davis.

Meeting attendance was 25 people.

Secretary’s Report:

Motion to approve the March minutes as written, unanimously approved.

Treasurer’s Report and Budget:

Motion to approve the March Treasurer’s report as presented by Brian McQuesten, unanimously approved

Danvers Invitational Tournament:

Next DIT meeting is April 12 at Stop and Shop 7:30 PM. ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND – HELP PLAN OUR BIG SOCCER EVENT OF THE YEAR.

Competition Committee received 203 team applications by the April 1st deadline. The original target for DIT2000 was 160 teams. Last year there was 179 teams. After a long and difficult meeting, the competition committee was able to narrow the number of teams down. By adding a fourth site on Saturday for a full-size field, 6 mores teams will be able to compete in the tournament. These six have a history of attendance at the Danvers Invitational and would have been unable to compete without this fourth site.

**The use of Plains Park as a fourth site was approved.

It was noted that "registration criteria" needs to be addressed for next year in the event there a similar circumstances.

The breakdown:

Target teams 160 (72 small-sided, 88 full-sided)

#applications 203 (88 small-sided, 115 full-sided)

#accepted 182 (88 small-sided, 94 full-sided with the fourth site)

Registrar’s report:

Last registration for the Spring season was held March 8th.

In 1999 there were 1352 players registered in DYS, in 2000 there are 1351 !

Registration for the 2000-2001 season:

Travel May 11 and June 1

Intramural June 13 and June 15

All four days will be held at the High School Rm. 101 from 6:30 - 8:00 PM

Effective with the May 11th registration for the 2000-2001 season the following registration fees were approved.

U06 $40.00

U07-U10 $50.00

Travel $60.00

The family maximum is $120.00

Administration Report:

The Spring Coaches Meeting was held on March 28th and was a success. The format of the meeting, with a clinic run by the Boston BullDogs and Renegades, was liked.

U06 Informational Meeting to be held April 10th. The program starts Saturday April 15 at the High School. Boys run 8:00-9:00 and girls 8:30-9:30.

The Intramural program for U07,U08 and U10 starts Sunday April 16th.

Referee meeting was held March 30th.

Operations Report:

Field permits for the regular season and DIT2000 were received on 4/5/2000.

There are four Pugg goals unaccounted for ! These are the type goals used for the U07 program. If you know the whereabouts of these goals please notify Ernie Dion or send a note to DYS@theglobe.com

The DYS garage remodeling completed.

The Gates corner flags are stored @ Tom Conway's and the JV nets and corner flags @ Janet Gargan's.

Smith fields #2 and #3 are currently undergoing field work : aeration, slice seed, cut out dead areas, top soil addition, sod. A snow fence will be put up to deter field use.

Travel Report:

The Essex County Coaches Meeting was held March 29 and all DYS travel teams were represented.

Essex County season starts April 8– no games on Easter or Memorial Day weekend. April 19 is the last day to rescheduled games. Rosters will be frozen on May 14. ECYSA has adopted a zero tolerance policy from which the DYS policy is based.

Intramural tournament sign-ups for the fall : June 13 & 15 @ High School Room 101.

Other New Business:

Donation For Project Graduation approved.

Change in Directors for DYS Board

Larry Pickering was temporarily nominated as a Director at the 1999 November Annual Meeting until a replacement was found. After Larry's resignation, Frank Pellino was nominated and voted in as a Director on the DYS Board. Welcome aboard Frank !
