Jeff Chambers made a motion on to accept March, 2008 meeting minutes;
motion was seconded by Brian Harrison; motion passed.
President’s report- David Tye
Dave presented the informal agreement for the using Southwick (
Registrar’s Report- Dianne MacInnis
Spring
registrations are at about 850 (intramural and travel). Fall 2008 registrations will be held on April
10th and April 16th at the
Treasurer’s Report – Sharon Pollock
March treasurer’s report was presented. Jeff Chambers made a motion to accept the March,
2008 treasurer’s report; seconded by Dave Kamens; motion passed.
VP Administration Report – Jeff MacInnis
Intramural schedules are completed and will be posted on the
website. Letter was sent to coaches that
stressed the zero tolerance policy DYS regarding interaction with referees
(both coaches and parents). All coaching
information will be posted under the new Coaches tab. A long discussion ensued regarding how
referee problems should be addressed and reported. Intramural tournament teams have been formed. Al Gianetta presented a sample DYS coaching
shirt . The shirt cost is $20 each.
Motion
Jeff Chambers made a motion to approve up to $3,000 for up to 150 shirts
to be purchased for the coaches; Dave
Kamens seconded; motion passed.
Dave Tye made a recommendation to issue two shirts per team.
VP Operations Report – Frank Missett
On Saturday
April 5th, Frank will hold an equipment distribution meeting at Plains. Brian Harrison reported that the back field
will be used at Gates. The sod will be
installed on Field #1. At the YMCA, for
the time being, the fields committee will do some field improvement work
themselves and the major work that we approved recently will be postponed until
August. Some clean up work needs to be
done at Gates. The Essex Aggie is in
rough shape. Brian has requested
fertilizer. The Essex Aggie’s Girls
Lacrosse team will be using the field until
Travel Director’s Report– Dave Kamens
Dave is putting together a practice schedule
for all travel teams. Schedules
were mailed out today. There is an error
on the U-14 girls schedule. Tryouts will
held on Sunday 5/4 & 5/18 and Friday 5/9 & 5/16. MPS will be on hand to help out with the
tryouts as a benchmark. Track boosters
want to sell track sports bags at the DIT.
We can possibly set them up at Gates.
Dave will talk to Neal about this.
Revolution wants to partner with DYS to have a group outing at
Gillette. Dave will look into the
cost.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
194 teams have registered. Groupings need to be put together to get the
fields nailed down. The High School has
requested the stadium for 2 hours on Saturday and 2 hours on Monday. John Barrows will confirm times. Friday night is the LAX NEC All-Star
game. DIT will need extra security for
this contingency.
Scholarships- Janet Gargan
All applications should be in this month.
DSSSFestival-Jeff Chambers
Jeff Chambers and some others attended
appreciation luncheon.
Social– Sharon Pollock
The committee created a flyer to promote the
social. The main objective is to sell
tables. An e-mail address will be
created for replies to the social flyer.
The social is a “break-even” event.
Chicken and scrod will be served.
The cost will be $30 per person/$60 per couple. Raffle ideas are being discussed. Committee would like social promoted on the
web-site.

Touchline– Bob Gilmore
Publication is with the printer. Front page will be colored. 800 copies should be ready to mail out on
Monday. Bob raised
the possibility of an opening day parade and a Sportsmanship award.
Uniforms– Loren Rocker-no report

Business
Janet Gargan discussed Sports Pilot which is
software to run Youth Soccer registrations, scheduling, e-mailing and other
activities. The cost will be roughly
$2.70 per player. This is a web-based
program. A merchant credit account will
need to be set up which would increase the cost to close to $5.00 per
player. Janet will have the vendor come
out and give a presentation to the BOD.
Possible implementation could be Spring 09. It’s time to retire Soccer Track.
The next
BOD meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 7th at 7:30PM at the Maple St.
Church. BOD meetings are usually held
the first Wednesday of each month.
