Jeff Chambers took a moment to thank DYS for everything done for him during his recent illness. Also mentioned that FYI- the room used for the intramural coaches meeting was donated to DYS in conjuncture with the DIT business. Noted that DYS has six copies of "Attitudes are Contagious", a video produced by MYSA conveying proper behavior for adults at youth activities. Anyone wanting to view this tape contact Jeff at jgc_soccer@hotmail.com
I. Secretarys Report:
March minutes were accepted as written and are posted on website. Thank-Yous received from the Chambers, Casey King and St. Richards Church. DYS also received invitation to the YMCAs Grand Opening Gala on Friday, May 2, 2003. The Davis will attend. Also mentioned that Phil Sullivan may have whatever is left of the DYS video library, he will be contacted to check on this.
II. Treasurers Report:
Cash reports ands activity to date presented and accepted as written. Discussed adding the annual budget to Y-T-D sheets. Grandmaison & Tripoli have been hired to do DYS taxes. Half page ad in DHS 2003 Yearbook voted in and it was noted that this should be added to yearly budget.
III. Registrars Report:
We have 72 teams formed for the spring, 46 intramural & 26 travel. 93 new intramural players, 8 new travel in U-12 U-14s and 135 U-16 U-18s. In U-6 there are 133 players with 34 new. Walk-in registration nights are set and posted on website. Flyers will be passed out at schools. Mail-in forms have been given to intramural coaches and will be passed out to travel coaches when they pick up their game rosters.
IV. Administration:
Coaches meeting went well thanks to the hard work of David Tye, Neal Hovey, John Barrows, Jeff Chambers and the Davis. U-6 letters have been mailed out to parents. Some movement of players in U-8 Boys due to loss of some players. Tom Maher has taken over as U-8 Boys coordinator as Frank Pellino has stepped down. Directions to Topsfield Pye Brook Park will be posted on website. Discussion over the Mass Premier School of Excellent Program. It is an alternative to club without taken players away from DYS. Basically a higher level of training for those who love the game. As Mass Premier does not have club teams DYS would not lose any players instead this program would compliment ours. Voted that DYS would supply Mass Premier with mailing labels. Will also discuss with Mark McDevitt about Mass Premier holding clinics and/or helping intramural coaches with practice.
V. Operations:
Field set-up day will be on Saturday, April 5th @ 8:00 AM at Gates Field, Rain Snow or Shine. The Davis will also be at Plains Park Storage from Noon 2:00 PM for any equipment needs and goal instruction. We have no permits until April 12th and even then field usage will be up to the town and Mother Nature. Have talked to town about cleaning up bushy area between Gates field and Senior Center parking lot. Need to watch Gates for "Dog People" letting their pets run free and not picking up after them. Travel game balls will be brought to Janet Gargans house. Carpenter has been hired to put up new doors and shelves at Gates and finish work at Plains Park storage. Need to look into help for set-up and take-down of nets at High School on Sundays.
VI. Travel:
ECYSA coaches meetings were held last week. Game rosters will be available at Janet Gargans before first game; she will e-mail coaches when they are ready. Due to Sunday games Janet will not be able to make try-outs on those days, however others who have been doing tryouts for years will be present so no need to change dates. Discussed the hiring of some Mass Premier members to help with set-up and evaluations. Was suggested that the pro sheets be separated from the DYS sheets for a better overview. David Tye will handle this.
Board was brought up to speed concerning the two U-14 Girl A teams scheduled to play each other twice in crossover games even though ECYSA was asked to watch out for this before the schedules were made. One of the coaches concerned has written ECYSA and Jose Isidro has replied that the board is taking the matter under advisement. Our three Danvers Members of ECYSA will abstain from these discussions due to conflict of interest.
VII. DIT
Meeting to follow this meeting.
VIII. ITC
Frank Pellino has stepped down and Carmen Pope has taken over the ITC. All registration will coincide with fall registration. New ITC form will be posted on website. Neal to look into DYS having a new registration form that would cover everything, registration, ITC, medical, needed DYS info & volunteer all in one form. U-7s will be handed out a flyer at first games about DIT mirco-soccer.
IX. Referees:
Jeff Chambers has sent list of Danvers referees to Bob Gabel and Neal Hovey. Clinic is still to be worked out.
X. Old Business:
