DYS has designated a committee consisting of the President, the two Vice Presidents, the Chairman of the Fields Committee, and the Head of Referees to determine the playing status of all fields on the day of a game. The Committee will make decision by at least 1 hour before game/session start time taking place on DYS facilities. If the fields are unplayable, then coaches will be notified by their Directors.
Games: If the fields are determined to be playable, then communication will be made and teams are expected to be at the field to play a game. If the inclement weather persists, then the referee at the scheduled kickoff will make the decision. Practice Sessions: If fields are determined to be playable then all coaches and players are expected to attend session. If once on field, conditions worsen, DOC and coaches can choose to end a practice session. Due to the varied nature of the Danvers soccer facilities, (with regard to drainage and general field composition) games/practice sessions at one facility may be cancelled due to the field conditions at that facility while other games/practice sessions may proceed as scheduled.
It is not the intent of DYS to override a parent’s decision. Parents certainly retain the right to decide if their child will participate in a game/practice session in inclement weather. DYS will make every effort to consider the safety and health of the children in our program, while also recognizing that soccer is a worldwide sport played in a variety of weather conditions.
If in doubt as to a game/practice are being played:
-If you are a coach, contact your Director.
-If you are a Travel parent, contact your coach or assistant coach. If you do not receive a any communication from your coach(s), then assume the game/practice is being played.
-If you are an Intramural parent and have received no cancellation communication from DYS, check the field status box on the home page. If the field status you are scheduled to be on is listed as "closed" no games/practices will be played on that field for the day.
Any games that are cancelled may be made up if both coaches want to play. The game will be set up through the Division Coordinator and the Head of Referees. A minimum of 3 days notice is necessary to ensure field availability and assigning of a referee.

Please do not bring your dogs to the DYS fields. Dogs are not welcome during games or practices as they cause damage to the fields and have frightened spectators and even interfered with play.
