Minutes of the Danvers Youth Soccer Annual General Meeting

November 19, 2008

 

Attending:   David Tye, Jeff MacInnis, Diane MacInnis, Dave Kamens, Maureen Merritt, Sharon Pollock, Frank Missett, Jeff Chambers, Ellen Chambers, Megan Chambers, Janet Gargan, Loren Rocker, Brian Harrison, Bob Gilmore, Brian Armand, Tom McNulty, Sue Dirks, Tracy Smith, David Thomson, Rich Sterchele, Charles Martins, John O’Connor, Susan O’Connor,  Andrea Costa, Chris George, Rosa Kowalski, John Barrows, Sharon Clement

 

 28 people attended the meeting.

 

The meeting was called to order by President David Tye at 7:35 PM.

 

President David Tye – Brief Review of the Year

Dave recapped the past year noting accomplishments and challenges.  He also discussed what the challenges would be going forward this year.

 

2009 BOD Elections

 

Dave Tye invited the meeting attendees, who did not already have a copy, to take a copy of the slate of candidates, put forth by the nominating committee, to review.  He then asked if there were any nominations from the floor.

 

Motion – Jeff Chambers made a motion to add two Director  positions:   a U16-U19 Director and a Director-At-Large; seconded by Bob Gilmore; motion passed.

 

Nomination from the floor – Jeff Chambers nominated Janet Gargan for the U16-U19 Director’s position and he also nominated Brian Armand for the Director At-Large; seconded by Loren Rocker.  Janet and Brian were then added to the slate of candidates.

 

Motion – Dianne MacInnis made a motion for the Secretary to cast one vote for the slate of candidates; seconded by Loren Rocker.  The floor was opened to discussion.  Jeff Chambers is concerned that our by laws allow us to direct the Secretary to cast a single vote for uncontested positions.  This, Jeff explained, precludes each voting member’s right to vote or not vote for individuals, who may or may not receive a majority of votes, if each voting member were allowed to cast their own ballot.  The vote was then taken and passed unanimously.

 

The Secretary was directed to cast a vote for the slate of candidates.

Frank Missett publicly thanked all the attendees present who, although they did not get elected to the board tonight, have shown their desire to get involved, including Sue Dirks, Rich Sterchele, Charles Martins, John O’Connor and Susan O’Connor

 

As has been the long standing tradition in DYS, David Tye was presented a gift from the board in gratitude for his service as President these past two years.  David thanked the board and complimented his fellow board members for their hard work and dedication.

 

Motion to adjourn by Loren Rocker; seconded by David Kamens.  Meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM.

 

The next meeting is the Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 7:30PM at Maple St. Church.
