Secretary’s Report - Maureen Merritt

October, 2007 BOD minutes have been posted on website.  Bob Gilmore made a motion to accept October, 2007 meeting minutes; motion was seconded by Frank Missett, motion accepted.

President’s report- David Tye

The president thanked the board for their efforts during the past year.  He recounted the success of several DYS teams at the state level during this past year.  Dave specifically thanked Brian Harrison, who just completed his 2 year term, for an outstanding job as VP, Operations.  He also stressed that it is crucial for new people to get involved to maintain the high quality program that DYS has always been.

Registrar’s Report- Dianne MacInnis

740 players were registered during the fall.  These players are coached by 90 volunteers.

Treasurer’s Report Sharon Pollock

Fall paint ($4,135) was the largest expense for October.  Net profit for the DIT stands at just over $30,000.  Jeff Chambers made a motion to accept October’s treasurer report; seconded by Dianne MacInnis; motion passed unanimously.

VP Administration ReportJeff MacInnis

Jeff summarized the year for intramurals.  The Mass Premier programs were expanded this year.  U7 instruction was added after the U6 program on Saturday mornings.  This was very successful.  About 50 players and coaches attended on a weekly basis.  U8 and U10 clinics were added on Tuesdays at Smith School.  These clinics were also extremely well attended.  There were issues with player commitment at the U10 level.  We will be getting new uniforms for the U10 level.  They will all be different based on the new team names assigned this year.

VP Operations Report Brian Harrison

Brian reflected on his past two years.  He will be helping Frank transition and would like to retain some responsibilities.

Travel Director’s ReportDave Kamens

When teams were formed for the 2007-2008 season, the higher level teams were intentionally made smaller than in the past to allow room for movement of players. It worked out well and there were a couple of players moved.  14 teams were very competitive this past season.  DYS ran a very successful goalie clinic this fall.  The first game for the fall season is scheduled for April 12th.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Danvers InvitationalTom Conway (not present)

Jeff Chambers stressed that some key players, particularly Tom Conway and Neal Hovey are looking to scale back their roles.  DYS needs new people to step up to these key positions.

DSSSFestival-Jeff Chambers

Jeff applauded everyone’s efforts.  The festival realized a $7,000 profit which will be donated to Operation Troop Support.  Concession sales were down by about $1,500, but profit was still up $200 from last year.  The bake sale run by Smith School raised $400.  Cory Grace was thanked for organizing high school students as volunteers.  Kristina Davis was also recognized for organizing North Shore Tech volunteers.

Intramural Tournament Committee

Team formation was confusing.  The process needs to be re-worked to avoid his confusion in the future.

Pictures- Maureen Merritt

We need to make a decision in the near future whether or not we should continue using Captive Images next year.

TouchlineBob Gilmore

Dave congratulated Bob for resurrecting the Touch-line.  Bob has new ideas for the subsequent issues.

Scholarships- Janet Gargan-no report.

Uniforms-Loren Rocker

Loren and his committee are still researching uniform options.  The goal is to start with the new uniforms by the fall of 2008.

Old Business- none

New Business

Revolution Tickets-The Revolution ticket program went very well this year.  Dave had to turn families away.  The Touch-line made more families aware of this program.  Dave suggested purchasing more tickets for the upcoming season.  Jeff Chambers made a motion to expand Revolution tickets to 8, preferably near section 106; Bob Gilmore seconded; motion passed. The approximate ticket cost is $1,375 for 4 tickets and $2,895 for 8 tickets.

Field Damage – Brian Harrison reported that Plains Park is in rough shape.  Smith is in pretty good shape.  We need to think about where to play the U10 program if Plains is deemed unplayable.  We also need to give some thought to what fields we need to fix.

Danvers High Soccer Booster Co-president, Cory Grace – The boosters would like to get the high school players more involved with DYS.  For example, they could run a concession stand at the DIT or help with parking.  They would also like to bring back “DYS Night “at a Danvers High Soccer game.  The Danvers High School boosters recently honored the 2007 State Champion U12 Boys Force at half-time of a home game.  Cory and her co-president are planning on attending monthly DYS board meetings. The board welcomes their involvement.
