Minutes of the Danvers Youth Soccer March Board Meeting

Attending:   David Tye, Jeff MacInnis, Dianne MacInnis, Maureen Merritt, Sharon Pollock, Dave Kamens,  Bob Gilmore, Brian Harrison, Frank Missett,  Al Gianetta, Tom Conway, Jeff Chambers, Janet Gargan, Loren Rocker, Mike Landers, Cory Grace, Andrea Costa, Jed White

 

18 people attended the meeting.

 

The meeting was called to order by President David Tye at 7:31 PM. 

 

Secretary’s Report - Maureen Merritt

February, 2008 BOD minutes have been posted on website.  Bob Gilmore made a motion on to accept February, 2008 meeting minutes; motion was seconded by Jeff MacInnis; motion passed.

 

President’s report- David Tye                

David introduced Cory Grace and Mike Landers from the Danvers High School Soccer Boosters.  The boosters will continue to volunteer at concessions at the Essex Aggie or Gates Field during the Memorial Day Tournament.  DYS night at a Danvers High Soccer game was discussed.  The boosters are encouraging High School players to get involved with coaching in DYS.  They are in the process of raising funds for the purchase of approximately 110 new shirts for varsity boys and girls as the athletic budget does not allow for this cost.

 

David gave an overview of the youth sports President’s meeting recently held by town officials.  Cheryl Marshall would like to receive copies of the intramural schedules.  The town would like to receive reports of any capital improvements completed by DYS.

 

Registrar’s Report- Dianne MacInnis

Fall 2008 registration will be held on April 10th and April 16th at Danvers High School.  Post cards will be sent to players with fall registration dates.  Discount date will be April 25th.

 

Treasurer’s Report Sharon Pollock

February’s treasurer report was presented.   The church sent a thank you letter to DYS for our donation.  Brian Harrison made a motion to accept the February, 2008 treasurer’s report; seconded by Frank Missett; motion passed. 

 

VP Administration ReportJeff MacInnis

The fundamentals program will begin on 4/19.  Mass Premier will run U6 program on Saturdays and it will be extended one hour for U7.  Spring tournament team formation is under way. 

 

VP Operations Report Frank Missett

Field permits have been filed.  Select balls have been ordered.  The distributor gave a discount this year.   DYS purchased 36 balls for the DHS boosters club.

 

Travel Director’s ReportDave Kamens

Dave has been in touch with Mass Premier Soccer.  He is trying to arrange some indoor clinics at Soccer, Etc., before the outdoor season begins.  Mandatory Essex County Coaches’ meetings will be held at Georgetown Country Club on 3/24 and 3/31.  Check website calendar for details.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

Danvers InvitationalTom Conway  

165 teams are registered.  Full sided team slots are filled.  There are a lot of U12 and U14 Girls’ teams.  There are 26 towns represented.  The DYS tournament patch has been designed.

 

Scholarships- Janet Gargan

Committee will convene once they receive all applications (April) to make their decisions.

 

DSSSFestival-Jeff Chambers

Jeff passed around another thank you letter from Kuwait.

 

SocialSharon Pollock

The committee has begun soliciting for raffles.

 

Pictures- Maureen Merritt

The picture committee has recommended using Sportography for the 2008-2009 season.  The pricing is a little lower than the three photographers that were compared.  The coaches’ thank you plaques are included and no commitment contract for the subsequent year is required.  Picture shoot dates are Sept. 27th and 28th with rain dates of October 4th and 5th.

UniformsLoren Rocker

Loren displayed DYS’ samples and gave an overview of the uniform kits for new travel uniforms which includes 2 shirts, 2 pairs of socks, and a pair of shorts.  The target date for installing new travel uniforms is the fall of 2008.

 

New Business

 

Jeff Chambers reported the sad news of the death of long time town employee Charles Tordiglione (Tiggie) who spent countless hours working on fields for DYS.   He asked the board to consider donating to the Special Olympics in his memory.  A motion was made by Brian Harrison to donate $100 to the Special Olympics in his memory; seconded by Jeff MacInnis; motion passed.

 

The next BOD meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 2nd at 7:30PM at the Maple St. Church.  BOD meetings are usually held the first Wednesday of each month.
